Ohio River catfishing

Went to the Ohio River with a couple of my buds to see if the catfish were biting. We put in at Tanners creek in Indiana. We went straight to our first spot and put down some fresh and frozen cut gizzard shad. Our first spot produced four blue cats 8,9,13, and 17 lb. We decided to go get fresh bait and got all we needed from a small feeder creek. We marked some nice hooks as we were headed to the mouth of the creek so we dropped down some of the fresh shad as we motored out. I got hung up and my buddy says it looks like a tree on the fish finder. Just as he says that his rod tip dives down hard toward the water. He sets the hook and has a nice fish. Of course it takes him in the tree. He doesn't give up though and works the fish free from the tree. I am waiting with the net as a nice 21 lb flathead comes to the surface. We fish this area for awhile with only a couple of hits and one small 3 lb channel cat to show for it. We go back to our original spot and catch two more blues 19 and 20 lb. and a dink channel cat of 1 lb. Current was just about nonexistent. I hope we get some flow for the next trip.
