Tip's on Bass fishing with Senkos

When I use a senko Type bait
I use a barrel swivel in line to keep my line from twisting.
Sometimes you need to put a little erratic action into your
senko and it causes twists.
So to stop this I first tie a barrel swivel on the business
end of my line then I attach a
10 inch length of Fluorocarbon on one end of the swivel, on
the other end I tie my hook.
Then you Texas rig your senko like you would normally do and no twists.
Hope
it helps you out it did me!

Topwater Tricks and Modifications
I fish Top water baits a lot, love that adrenalin rush. Here are a few things I
do
to modify my baits. First as with all my baits I put a red
treble hook on the front because that's where
I want the bass to key on. Its harder to throw my bait if he's
on the front treble hook.
Second I use a snap not snap swivel on my bait to help give it
more action as you can see on the
2 splash-its and the ricco in the above picture. You can also
see the red hooks.
Then most important of all I take some fly line floatent (stuff you wipe on fly
line to make it float)
and with a small piece of cloth apply it to about a foot of
my line in front of my bait.
This causes the line to float and not sink intern helping the
bait spit more water and helping me walk
the dog with my bait easier. It drives the bass nuts when
nothing else will.

Oldies but Goodies
With all the hype on all the new lures that come out today don't forget the
oldie but goodies lures. I find that lures that worked years
ago are just as good and sometimes
better in triggering a bite. Lures like the old Babe Winkelman
shadings, Bagley small fry, pop R's,
jitterbugs , hula poppers, Johnny O Neal WeedWing, rebel deep
WeeR, Barney spoons, countdown
Rapala are just some of the oldie but goodie go to
lures....JIM

By far some of the most exciting fishing other than top water is getting bass
off the beds
when they go shallow to spawn. One thing that I do when I get
a bass that won't budge is something
I remember Shaw Grigsby doing a few years back.
*Try throwing a large more disruptive bait
first, and then downsizing to get the strike.
Keep in mind that in the interest of the species casts should
be retrieved next to the bed and
not directly through it.
*Also LIZARDS naturally predate on eggs during
the spawn and as a result trigger the instinct to protect
the bed in addition to being one of the favorite items on a
bass' menu!

Tip to help Float Line
I noticed a
tip to use fly line dressing. Good idea.
Being a cheapskate, I usually use Chapstick (It's just grease)
which I always
have handy. When fishing with a bobber when you don't want your
line to sink
I put some Armor-all on a small rag and coat about a cast length.
That floats it.
Chapstick is also good on rods with metal ferrules.
It Keeps them from sticking. I've never tried it on graphite.
